Advertising Director:  East Oregonian is seeking a leader to guide and grow our advertising sales efforts. Our advertising department needs a strong, creative leader to inspire staff and create sales campaigns. You'll need to have the ability to follow through on details while managing the big picture.  You'll oversee both display and classified reps.  At least five years of sales management experience in the media field and a solid record of successful campaigns required. City Editor:  The East Oregonian (EO) has an exceptional opening for a city editor.  This new position will lead a staff of six reporters in local coverage of Northeast Oregon for the six-day, including Sunday,  community newspaper and EO online.  Ten plus years of reporting and editing experience preferred.  Multi-media and Internet experience also important. Applicant must be an outstanding writer and coach with ambitions to become editor.  Consideration will be given to candidates looking to live in this beautiful ranching and farming community for the long term. This is a hands-on editing position that includes page layout, editing stories, some writing and working with a bright, energetic staff to improve local news coverage. The EO city editor will work closely with new Publisher/Editor Tom Brown, the Managing Editor and News Editor as well as other key managers of the newspaper.  The EO is an 8,500 daily that has been in the same family for over 100 years and has been recognized for its general excellence. Pendleton/ Hermiston, the EO's home base, is near the Blue Mountains, the Columbia River and offers outstanding hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor recreation. The region is one of Oregon's leading agricultural centers built around irrigated farming and dryland wheat. It is also home to a famous rodeo. Circulation Director:  The East Oregonian (EO), a family-owned  daily  in beautiful Oregon,  is seeking a leader with circulation and management experience to join our team.  The EO is a Tuesday through Sunday newspaper, published in  historic Pendleton, Ore where outdoor hunting, fishing and recreational opportunities abound.   You'll also oversee circulation for the Hermiston Herald, a twice-weekly community paper, and provide circulation support to our weekly sister newspapers: Blue Mountain Eagle and Wallowa County Chieftain, all part of our newspaper family. This position focuses on strategic growth through sales and outstanding customer service,  including delivery.  We need a creative problem-solver to lead our circulation department in growing our newspapers.  The ideal candidate will have marketing, computer, communication and  budgeting skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and some management experience.   The EO has been family owned for 100 years.    Salary DOE. Mailroom Worker: Full-time (30-40 hours per week) opportunity to work in our packaging and distributing department in Pendleton, OR. Must be able to regularly lift 40# and work a variety of shifts including weekends. Duties include using machines to place inserts into the paper, labeling newspapers, moving the papers from the press. Mechanical aptitude is important.
